Pack 435 Raingutter Regatta Rules 2007

Race was held at October Pack Meeting

This is supposed to be fun and for the boys. Please keep that in mind during construction and the competition

The boat must be newly built for the current Cub Scouting year. The boat should be assembled from the B.S.A. Raingutter Regatta Kit parts only. Additional decals, paint and glue are permitted.

Overall width shall not exceed 1.875 inches

Overall length from bow to stern (including rudder) shall not exceed 7.00 inches, nor shorter than 6.50 inches.

The mast can be no taller than 6.50 inches from the deck surface.

The boat must have a single hull. No Catamarans.

The sail must be the one supplied with the B.S.A. Raingutter Regatta kit. The sail may be trimmed and shaped, but may not be larger than the material supplied. No additional sail may be used and the boat is required to have only on mast.

The keel and rudder may be glued anywhere on the bottom of the boat but cannot exceed 7.00 inches in overall length.

The boat must be propelled by the scout blowing through a straw. The boys are to blow air on the boats in order to advance them through the water. In addition, the boys should not use their faces, lips, hats, nose or other bodily parts to move the boat – just the air in their lungs! No motors, propellers or mechanical devices shall be used to propel the boat in any way.

Once the race is started, the boat may not be touched by anyone except by a judge or race official.

Details such as decals and paint are permissible as long as these details are securely glued or fastened to the boat. The scouts are encouraged to decorate their boat, as they will also be judged for best design and most original.

Each boat must pass inspection before it may compete.

Good Luck and Have Fun!!
